Drift
A new novel by 'Paddington', of Homo Ludens fame, is now available to read online here. I have read some of 'Drift' in proof and am very happy to recommend this work of socialist historical fiction to readers of Histomat.

Many thanks Senor Snowball - Drift was indeed my attempt at writing an explicitly Marxist novel. It didn't quite turn out that way of course, for reasons which will be clear to anyone with a political bent who wishes to write fiction.
Somehow, the ideas which you hold closest become bastardised and warped during the writing process - which, of course, makes you question whether you really held those ideas in the first place. I suspect this is something to do with a certain enforced lack of discipline which is required in an act of creativity.
Anyway, at the risk of sounding desperate, please do come along and take a peek. I do not feel that the right place for a novel is in the offices of a major publishing company - I would much rather that people read it as nature intended. I would be very pleased to hear any comments, positive or otherwise.
