A poem for Geoff Hoon
Parents when a child is born
Wish it to be intelligent.
I through intelligence
Having ruined my whole life
Wish the boy to be both ignorant and stupid.
Then he can crown a tranquil existence
By becoming a Cabinet Minister.

A quick impertinent note to say that we are having an adventure in historical materialism at a conference on Marxism and Children's Literature. Anyone interested in attending or contributing, please go to www.michaelrosen.co.uk, scroll down latest news till you get to 'Academic'. Do delete this, Snowball, if you think I shouldn't advertise on your blog.
Isakovsky - I am honoured to have such esteemed guests leaving comments on my blog to be honest - welcome.
The Marxism and Childrens Literature conference ( on March 23rd in Hertfordshire somewhere) sounds intriguing. Thanks.
From the Chambers dictionary:
hoon (Austr slang) n lout, yob; a pimp.
Imagine that.
