Salute to the Soca Warriors

A quick salute to the Trinidad and Tobago team - and to the legend that is Shaka Hislop in particular - after Saturday's inspirational draw with Sweden. If they can get a result against England then they have an excellent chance or progressing through to the Second Round. Bring on Thursday!

Yeah, I hope they wallop England. I'm still a bit sad that Angola was defeated by Portugal, though.

Just to continue the ethical football debate, would you support Iraq if they were in the World Cup?

Paddington - I'd support Iraq over England yes. A pity Paraguay lost...

Are you coming to Marxism by the way? (either of you?)

Sorry, not this year. My plans partially fell through: I made it to England, but that was last month! I even stayed in the same area Marxism is being held this year.

A question for Londoners: is scaffolding some sort of new architectural style?

I will be at Marxism yes - plus, this tuesday zizek is doing a lecture at birkbeck on what he believes to be the only alternative to reflexive capitalist democracy (where democracy = populism, and populism = fear): the dictatorship of the proletariat.

Unfortunately, I can't go. But I will try and blag some notes from somewhere and do a post on it shortly (once my blogging muse has returned).
